Rush: Season 1, Episode 2 - Dr. Rush's Apartment Facade

I started to watch the second episode of the new show, Rush, and it opened on this beautiful facade.  The show is set in Los Angeles, so if anyone knows where this is, I would love to know.

Then we see Rush on his balcony talking on the phone.  What is he looking at?  Just this epic view that would not exist in the geography of Los Angeles.

At this point I decided that the show sucks and I won't be watching more of it.  End scene.

UPDATE (June 19th, 2015):  I just looked up from the drive I take everyday, and there it was!  The building!  It's at Franklin and Argyle.  It was their the whole time!  And there is no way in hell you can see downtown from a balcony.

I'm Flipping Out

Every design dork has a special place in their heart for reality television (Trading Spaces, House Hunters, Top Design, etc), so all my dreams came true when I realized there was a reality show about remodeling my old apartment.

I have loved the show, Flipping Out with Jeff Lewis, for years.  I knew he remodeled Chaz Dean's hair salon (located behind my apartment building), and I knew Chaz Dean purchased my building, but I had no idea that the remodel would be featured on his show.  I'm the luckiest girl in the world!

Flipping Out: Season 7, Episode 2 - My Living Room!  I painted that fireplace!  I hope Jeff says something disparaging about it.

At first they just showed some images of the empty interior, but then they ripped everything out!

This is the rendering for the exterior, and it looks remarkably like the finished product (because I have driven by the actual building).  I wouldn't be surprised if someone just drew the finished product and the show passed it off as a concept rendering.

Mad Men Called

I enjoyed watching the phone call between Don and Megan from Season 7, Episode 7 of Mad Men because it is so obvious that THEY ARE IN DIFFERENT PLACES!

Mad Men: Season 7, Episode 7

Mad Men: Season 7, Episode 7

Don is in a ridged, dark, conventional world with heavy drapes and dark wood.  The chair he sits in reminds me of the chair in House of Cards.  It is very traditional, but with unexpected whimsical woodwork.

Megan, on the other hand, is in sunny Los Angeles (a city very dear to me).  She is sitting in a cord chair in the sunshine, surrounded by west coast potted plants and a California color pallet.  Honestly, things haven't changed too much here. This is what it looks like.
